The Israel National Cyber Directorate launched on Sunday a new cyber protection program for service providers of government, as well as infrastructure and finance bodies.

The plan sets new unified standards for providers, and sets an Israeli cybersecurity standard, which will be supervised by dozens of cyber experts.

In recent years, providers in supply chains have become a targets for hackers trying to bypass large enterprise defenses and carry out cyber attacks.

According to the plan, Israel's Government Cyber Protection Unit at the Prime Minister's office has instructed governmental bodies to require suppliers to issue approvals that meet the new standards.

As part of the program, the directorate will put on its website a "cyber calculator," which will allow governmental bodies to enter parameters and get a cybersecurity situation report.

"The new plan places Israel as a leader and innovator in this area and toughens the level of cyber protection of the entire Israeli economy," the directorate concluded.
