As 2013 started with a grim note, France will lower its growth forecast this year in the coming weeks on expected limp economic activities, French Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici said here on Monday.

"We have a feeble acquired growth in 2013. In the coming weeks, we will probably have to rethink about our growth prospects," the minister told RTL radio.

"We will do that with right pace and right method... The policy that I advocate is not called rigor or austerity, but it's called seriousness, continuity and growth creation," he added.

France, eurozone's second largest economy, reported in 2012 zero growth, lower that the government's estimate of 0.3 percent as housholds consumption, the country's main growth engine and manufacturing business, registered sluggish performnace.

Via a package of measures to stimulate competitiveness and inject new blood into the country's indutrsial sector, the ruling Socialists was aiming to accelerate growth to 0.8 percent this year.
