Japanese airline All Nippon Airways Co. (ANA) on Sunday resumed Boeing 787's commercial operation since a series of battery troubles made the dreamliners grounded worldwide in January, local media reported.

A Boeing 787 ran by ANA with 218 passengers left New Chitose Airport in north Japan after 5 p.m. and landed at Tokyo's Haneda Airport at 6:30 p.m., said Japan's Kyodo News.

The airline has improved battery system in its dreamliners and conducted test flights before restarting operation of Boeing 787. ANA said the new battery system ran well during the short operation on Sunday, according to the report.

Japanese and U.S. aviation authorities gave green light for the Boeing 787s to resume service on April 26.

ANA and Japan Airlines Co. (JAL) are the world's two largest operators of the Boeing dreamliners, and the JAL will resume its Boeing 787s operations on June 1, said Kyodo.
