The unemployment rate in Hungary fell to 3.6 percent between September and November 2018, the lowest level which was also reached earlier in May-July, according to the Hungarian Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Wednesday.

The rate means the number of unemployed was 9,000 fewer than a year earlier, when the rate stood at 3.8 percent.

This unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the EU, of which Hungary has been a member since 2004.

The country has a steady GDP growth, driven by exports, but held back by emigration of a large number of Hungarians to Western Europe due to lower wages in the country.

In 2017, the average unemployment rate in Hungary was 4.2 percent, after 5.2 percent in 2016.
