Vietnam raises reference exchange rate

Vietnam's central bank on Monday raised its reference exchange rate between Vietnamese dong and U.S. dollar by 28 Vietnamese dong to 22,895 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar.

With the current trading band of plus or minus 3 percent, the ceiling exchange rate is 23,582 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, and the floor rate is 22,208 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar, said the State Bank of Vietnam.

Listed rates at big commercial banks remained flat or went up slightly from the last trading day before the lunar new year holiday. BIDV kept the rates unchanged at 23,155 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for buying and 23,245 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollar for selling. Rates at Vietcombank advanced by 10 Vietnamese dong 23,170 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollars and 23,260 Vietnamese dong per U.S. dollars, respectively.
