Russia plans to spend over 25.7 trillion rubles (391 billion U.S. dollars) on projects in a dozen national strategic development areas in 2019-2024, the Russian government said Monday.
"The national projects are aimed at ensuring scientific, technological and socio-economic breakthrough developments, raising the standard of living, creating conditions and opportunities for self-realization, and revealing the talent of each individual," the government said in a statement.
The latest move followed a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin in May last year that outlines the roadmap and sets targets for national development in a wide range of areas in the years leading up to 2024, including economic growth and technology development.
Of the total spending, 13.2 trillion rubles will be from the federal budget, 4.9 trillion rubles from regional budgets, 7.5 trillion rubles from extra-budgetary sources, and 147.8 billion rubles from state extra-budgetary funds, the statement said.
The government intends to channel 10.1 trillion rubles (153.8 billion dollars) of the funds to support economic growth through various projects, as well as a comprehensive infrastructure development plan.
Another 9.9 trillion rubles will go to efforts to create a comfortable living environment, including safe and high-quality roads, housing and urban environments and ecology projects.
About 5.7 trillion will be spent on healthcare, education and culture, the statement said.
