U.S. dollar declines amid concerns for economic slowdown

The U.S. dollar declined in late trading on Monday as investors remained concerned that tensions between the United States and its major trading partners will hit U.S. economy.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was down 0.11 percent at 97.3933 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1219 dollars from 1.1207 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2077 dollars from 1.2055 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar was down to 0.6753 dollar from 0.6791 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 105.27 Japanese yen, lower than 105.57 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9689 Swiss franc from 0.9722 Swiss franc, and it rose to 1.3244 Canadian dollars from 1.3208 Canadian dollars.
