Eight people, including four minors, were dead and six others injured when an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted southern Peru, local authorities said on Sunday.
The quake hit Paruro province in the Andean region of Cusco late Saturday night, according to the Geophysical Institute of Peru.
The victims were all from the community of Misca, where some 60 houses collapsed and around 300 people were affected, Peru National Institute of Civil Defense said.
Four people were still missing from Misca and rescuers were looking for them, said Peru National Institute of Civil Defense.
