"Transformers: Age of Extinction" is the most popular movie this weekend, with 36.4 million U.S. dollars in estimated ticket sales in North America.

In its second week of screening, the film dropped 64 percent in ticket sales since last weekend. It has a 10-day tally of 175 million dollars in sales, according to studio estimator Rentrak.

Melissa McCarthy's latest comedy "Tammy" debuted with 21.2 million dollars from 3,456 locations in North America, taking the second place. "Tammy" earned just a C+ from first-night moviegoers and got a 26 percent approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes' critics. All these indicate "Tammy" may have a tough time in the long run.

In the third place is horror film "Deliver Us From Evil". It opened with 9.5 million dollars from 3,049 locations. Horror movies don't typically hold well. It got a B- Cinema Score and only 33 percent approval from Rotten Tomatoes.

Rounding out the 10 most popular films in North America this weekend, as estimated by studios, were "22 Jump Street" (9.4 million dollars), "How To Train Your Dragon 2" (8.8 million), " Earth To Echo" (8.3 million), "Maleficent" (6.1 million), "Jersey Boy" (5.2 million), "Think Like A Man Too" (4.9 million) and "Edge of Tomorrow" (3.6 million).
