BEIJING, July 13 (Economic Daily - China Economic Net) -- The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative announced on Tuesday a 200 billion U.S. dollars list of Chinese goods for possible 10 percent tariffs. The U.S. is seeking public opinion and the public comment period ends on Aug 30. In the next two months, uncertainties may still exist about whether the whole list will finally take effect and what kinds of goods will be targeted, so how should investors treat it rationally?

In this regard, the markets have been prepared for the 200 billion U.S. dollars list of Chinese products for tariffs, as previously the U.S ordered tariffs on 50 billion U.S. dollars of Chinese goods, and threatened to impose tariffs on another 200 billion U.S. dollars in Chinese imports. The biggest change this time is the public comment period is two months. It goes much faster than the expected pace, said Zhang Yufeng, chief analyst of AVIC Securities, in China-ROK Financial Connect - Shanghai - Hong Kong Stock Connect produced by the Economic Daily - China Economic Net on July 11th.

"But for the markets, we have predicted before. There won't be great fluctuations due to the change of pace. In the short run, I advise we take the current China-U.S. trade frictions more rationally", said Zhang Yufeng.

He added that uncertainties still exist about when the whole list will finally take effect, since it still has 2 months of public comment. Furthermore, the possible negotiation between China and the U.S. during that period will also influence the trend of trade frictions. Therefore, we should not be too pessimistic but gradually adapt to this change. As we should keep rational about the following development, pessimism is inadvisable at this moment.
