A feature film about Li Dazhao, a co-founder of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is set to be released on July 1, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, according to China Film News.

Set between 1912 and 1927, the upcoming movie will lead audiences on a journey to revisit how Li sought to change China and save the nation, and how revolutionaries, led by Li, disseminated Marxism in China and eventually set up the CPC in 1921.

Starring renowned actor Zhang Songwen, the movie will be produced by Guan Hu, who directed the 2020 blockbuster war epics "The Eight Hundred" and "The Sacrifice."

One of the earliest disseminators of Marxism in China, Li is considered a pioneer of China's Communist movement, a great Marxist and an outstanding proletarian revolutionary, making significant contributions to the CPC and the Chinese people.
