Tunisia to receive 1st batch of COVID-19 vaccine in mid-February: ministry
A first batch of 93,600 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be acquired in mid-February and over 500,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine will be provided at the end of February, Hechmi Louzir, director general of the Pasteur Institute of Tunis (IPT) announced Saturday.
"These doses are part of the international COVAX initiative," Louzir who is a member of Tunisian scientific committee for the fight against the coronavirus, specified in a statement to Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
According to the senior health official, a steering committee for the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign was held on Saturday in the presence of the Minister of Health Faouzi Mehdi as well as representatives of several ministries and members of civil society who will help to organize the campaign.
The meeting examined the means to ensure better coordination for the success of the vaccination campaign. Enditem
