BEIJING, Apr.10(China Economic Net) - Pakistani Ambassador Moin ul Haque and Cheng Yongwen, Mayor of Wuhan, had a meeting on Wednesday when both agreed and identified a beautiful place to establish "China-Pakistan Friendship Square" near Yangtze River in Wuhan.

 

During the meeting, the ambassador and mayor discussed efforts to establish a Sister-City relationship between Karachi and Wuhan, giving this opportunity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

The two sides held a detailed discussion on further deepening cooperation with Wuhan-based institutions, enterprises, and universities, particularly in education, tourism, health, and infrastructure development.

 

Welcoming the Ambassador to Wuhan, the Mayor briefed on Wuhan’s key strengths and its role in the development of China, particularly in infrastructure, water-resource management, and education. He also touched upon the Wuhan government’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to save people's lives and health. He shared that after people’s victory over the pandemic, Wuhan has returned to its original vibrancy and social mobility and significantly contributing to China’s socio-economic development.

 

Mr. Yongwen expressed his deep gratitude to Pakistani government and people for their help during the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that the Pakistan-China friendship is a time-honored relationship, and mutual support during the pandemic has further strengthened our All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

 

Thanking Mr.Yongwen for the warm welcome, Ambassador Moin appreciated the Wuhan government's efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and paid tribute to Wuhan and Hubei's people for their courage, determination and discipline. He noted that mutual support during the difficult times of the pandemic has further strengthened our great friendship. He highlighted that establishment of a sister-city relationship between Karachi and Wuhan would further deepen exchanges and cooperation in all the areas of mutual interest.
