China-Pak Science Education Cooperation Project launched
BEIJING, May 25 (Gwadar pro)-A cooperative project on science education for youth was launched in Beijing on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations. A three-year cooperative plan was initiated on a hybrid meeting between the Children & Youth Science Center of CAST (China Association for Science and Technology) and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) on May 20th.
As per the plan, in the next three years, teachers training, resource sharing, and science education projects for youth will be carried out. For this purpose, online lectures, case studies sharing, a website providing courses for teachers and programs for students, and scientific laboratories shall provide pathways for Pakistan schools to draw on Chinese experience.
Children & Youth Science Center of CAST and PSF signed a Letter of Intent for science education cooperation. A cooperation initiative of school alliance on science education was also released, based on which thousands Pakistani teachers and hundreds of schools will be involved and empowered.
Meng Qinghai, Vice Chairman and Executive Secretary of CAST acknowledges the substantial achievements with Pakistan in terms of science education cooperation, mutual recognition of engineering capabilities, and talent exchange & training. At the end of last year, CAST, PSF and other institutions jointly founded the Preparatory Committee of the World Public Science Literacy Organization to promote international public science literacy.
This breakthrough came after a proposal from PSF to further science education cooperation with Chinese counterpart. Building on established relations between the two countries, Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig, PSF Chairman, expressed the willingness of his organisation to learn from Children & Youth Science Center of CAST to promote scientific undertakings in Pakistan. Speaking highly of the bilateral cooperation, he believes that it will open a new chapter in science and education cooperation and that the fruits of science and technology development benefit the two peoples.
As an important part of the cooperation project, Gong Ke, President of World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), gave a lecture on "Integrating Engineering Education into Sustainable Development" to Chinese and Pakistani science and technology teachers and teenagers.
Mr. Awais Ahmed Khan, Political Wing from the Pakistani Embassy in China and Jia Wei, First Secretary of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan also attended the meeting.
