E-commerce Manager Aman Ullah at Taneez, Pakistan’s silver handicraft brand, told China Economic Net that Taneez now mainly exports its silver-made products to countries such as the United Kingdoms and America and now China is not yet a target market for Taneez.
Taneez mainly makes silver handicrafts and jewelries. Ullah said, “In future, we will think about working with Chinese companies.”
Silver handicraft is not among the leading categories between China and Pakistan in regards to handicrafts trade. There are usually exports and imports related to textiles such as carpets and fabrics.
According to the website of Handicrafts Association of Pakistan, every city in Pakistan has its own handicrafts specialty, ranging from fabric, embroidery to jewelry, carving, mirror work and other items.
The cooperation and exchanges in handicrafts industry between China and Pakistan have increased in recent years. According to Xinhua, a Pakistan Craft Exhibition was organized by the Handicrafts Association of Pakistan and the Chinese embassy at the Chinese embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan on Jan. 12, 2020. Pakistani traders and exporters will also showcase their handmade products to the Chinese consumers on China International Import Expo (CIIE), scheduled to be held in Shanghai later this year.
Speaking to China Economic Net, Ullah said, Taneez, aiming at bringing the work of local artisans to Pakistani and International customers, has a history of more than 20 years and plans to expand its online and offline business in Pakistan as well as seeking more overseas business opportunities.
