The 13th China International Pickle Food Expo will be held in Meishan City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, from Nov. 1 to 5, local authorities said Wednesday.

Themed "Healthy Food, Shared by All," the expo is expected to attract more than 900 people including domestic and foreign political guests, experts, scholars, buyers, investors and exhibitors, said Xiao Zhongliang, deputy mayor of Meishan City, at a press conference.

The event will be jointly hosted by China National Food Industry Association, China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CFNA), the government of Meishan City, and the provincial agriculture and rural affairs department, Xiao added.

Five exhibition areas will be set up during the expo to demonstrate different kinds of pickles, international and domestic food items, equipment and facilities related to the pickle industry and specialty food, according to the organizers. More than 200 exhibitors, including over 50 foreign exhibitors from the Republic of Korea, Japan, France and Germany, have been invited to attend the expo.

Meishan has a long history of making pickles. The city's revenue from pickle sales in 2020 reached 21 billion yuan (about 3.3 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for more than 30 percent of the country's pickle market.

Meishan pickles have been exported to over 100 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
