The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games will be a platform to send a message of peace and brotherhood amid the complex scenario the world is going through, said a Cuban expert.

The Chinese government and its people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, have abundant experience in successfully organizing international sports competitions, senior sports journalist Victor Joaquin Ortega told Xinhua.

In the coming months, he said, Beijing will make history by becoming the first city in the world to have hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

"China defends the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect to promote the construction of a better world for humankind," said Ortega.

He added that the hype of not sending officials to the Winter Olympics is doomed to fail.

According to the expert, the U.S. current administration politicizes sports and uses manipulation as part of its foreign policy.

"China has the right to adopt countermeasures to protect from the U.S.- fueled provocation with the purpose to undermine the pillars of the Olympic movement," he said.

The success of the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, he said, will not depend on the attendance of senior government officials from the United States and other western countries.

"They should learn from the way that how China will guarantee the success of the upcoming Games," he said.

"The United States is behaving as usual in keeping with its long tradition in interfering in internal affairs of sovereign countries," said the expert.

"I have no doubt the performances of athletes participating at the Winter Olympics in Beijing will be spectacular and memorable," Ortega said.

"What the international community must condemn is the U.S. and some western nations' cynical stance that violates the core principles of the Olympic Charter," he said.

He said the U.S. move "damages sports integrity" and "the new provocation will not destroy the solid reputation of China in organizing international sports competitions."
