Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has stressed the important role of the CPC's internal regulations, saying that the regulations are vital to the Party's long-term governance and the country's enduring prosperity and stability.
Xi, who is also China's president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remark in an instruction to a national meeting on the work of the Party's internal regulations held in Beijing on Monday.
Xi said that since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the CPC Central Committee has adhered to strict governance over the Party in accordance with regulations, strictly followed the Party Constitution, and established a relatively sound system of the Party's internal regulations.
Noting that the regulations also play a major role in maintaining the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, Xi urged continued efforts to strengthen the Party's internal regulations to ensure that the CPC remains as the strong leadership in the historical process of sticking to and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The regulations will also help to provide the strong political guarantee for building a modern socialist China and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, Xi said.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and made a speech.
He urged efforts to improve the system of the Party's internal regulations and to implement the system in a stricter manner in order to better turn institutional strength into effective governance.
