Next year could see 10.76 million fresh college graduates, a Ministry of Education official said at a news conference on Monday. That means 1.67 million more graduates passing out than in 2021.

This unprecedented size is the best evidence of the country's improved education system. However, it also means greater pressure on the job market, especially at a time when COVID-19 is still around, increasing the difficulty for everyone.

With 9.09 million college graduates in 2021, it took the efforts of all sides involved to stabilize the employment rate. In the coming year, even greater efforts will be needed by all concerned in order to help the fresh graduates find jobs.

As ministry officials said at the news conference, the structural conflict between job seekers and the recruiting companies has not been solved yet, making it difficult for graduates to find jobs and for companies to recruit their ideal employees. How to bring them on the same page remains a challenge.

However, recognizing the problem is the first step toward solving it. There are ample tools in the toolbox for stabilizing the job market.

On the one hand, the central leadership has taken a series of financial, monetary and investment measures to support the development of enterprises and help small-and medium-sized enterprises cope with difficulties and increase their revenues, so as to be able to recruit more graduates. On the other hand, the Ministry of Education has done more to publicize job-related information so that it reaches every job-seeking graduate.

The Ministry of Education has published an index of 2,804 programs from 281 organizations looking to recruit people and organized activities attended by over 1,000 colleges and 2,800 SMEs, as well as helped meet the need for doctors and nurses in the western region by highlighting the vacancies.

Besides, some emerging jobs such as that of livestreamers and online writers can be of interest to graduates. We wish all the best to the upcoming fresh graduates and hope they easily find a job in 2022.
