Saudi Arabian skiers Salman Al Howaish and Fayik Abdi have qualified to compete in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced on Sunday.

The two Alpine skiers will thus become the first ever athletes from both Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region to compete at a Winter Olympics.

Saudi Arabia will also send a sports delegation to Beijing for the Winter Olympics, Abdulaziz Bagus from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sports told Xinhua.
