Bill Gates visits Pakistan, discusses fight against polio, COVID-19
Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, arrived in Pakistan on Thursday for a visit and held meetings with the Pakistani leadership.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, during his meeting with Gates, lauded the Gates foundation for its continued support and partnership with Pakistan in polio eradication, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.
The prime minister underlined that the government is fully committed and determined towards polio eradication, the statement said.
Gates thanked the prime minister for the invitation of the visit and "highly appreciated the efforts of the leadership, health workers and parents for working tirelessly to ensure that polio never paralyzes a child again," the statement said.
Gates along with his delegation also attended a session of the National Command and Operation Center on Thursday, the department leading Pakistan's campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic.
