Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un has expressed warm congratulations over the success of the Beijing Winter Olympics, which concluded on Feb 20, saying that China has left its mark on the history of the Olympics.

 

In a verbal message recently sent to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Kim, also general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, said that the Games, for which the people of China and of the world had high expectations, have become an innovative and distinctive major international sports event.

 

Under the leadership of Xi and the CPC, the Chinese people managed to host the Games on schedule with persevering efforts, Kim said, adding that the Games showed to the world the Chinese people's steadiness in marching toward the path guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

 

Kim said he firmly believed that the Chinese people will make even greater progress in fully building a modern socialist country.

 

He also said that he stands ready to work with Xi to further strengthen the DPRK-China relationship and make positive contributions to building a world with peaceful development.
