Sudan's acting Foreign Minister Ali Al-Sadiq on Tuesday condemned Israel's "oppressive practices" against Palestinians at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The condemnation came when Al-Sadiq met with the Palestinian Ambassador to Sudan Sameer Abdul-Jabbar Taha, the Sudanese foreign ministry said in a statement.

The minister reaffirmed Sudan's stance toward the right of the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the statement.

The meeting focused on the current situations in the occupied Palestinian territories following the attacks by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinians in Jerusalem, said the statement.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem on Friday witnessed clashes between the Israeli forces and the Palestinians when the Jews began to celebrate their Passover holiday that coincided with the second Friday prayers of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
