Since ancient times, Greece was very famous in the domain of wellness. The belief in the curative powers of mineral waters goes back to prehistoric times. Although most spas around the world incorporate practices from other ancient cultures, the practices of ancient Greece, inspired by Hippocrates and Asclepius, remain the basis for even the most modern spas.

 

In the "World Luxury Spa Awards" international competition, several Greek spas that combine absolute luxury and relaxation, stood out. The World Luxury Spa Awards is an established international organization that selects luxury spas recognized for their world-class facilities and excellence in guest service. Winners are voted for by the public and awards are presented to luxury spas in various categories, by country or on a regional, continental and global basis.

 

Among the winners we find the Thermae Sylla Spa Wellness Hotel in Edipsos, Northern Evia, which has also been distinguished as one of the top 10 spas in the world, thanks to its thermal baths among others, winning the title of Luxury Thermal Resort Spa worldwide.

 

On European level, the Myrthia Thermal Spa of Halkidiki, in Northern Greece, also stood out, as a Luxury Thermal Resort Spa, with holistic and personalized spa treatments, herbal sauna, Thalasso-Infinity pool and thalassotherapy pool with warm sea water.

 

The multi-awarded Angsana Corfu Spa as a Luxury New resort Spa could also not be missing from the list as the ultimate wellness destination with 11 treatment rooms, where historical and modern techniques of the West meet those of the East. Facilities also include a fully equipped gym, 25m indoor pool and outdoor infinity pool for ultimate relaxation.

 

As Luxury Hydrotherapy Spa, Aegeo Spas Mayia Exclusive Resort & Spa of Rhodes stood out with sauna, steam bath, heated pool and jacuzzi, while in general Aegeo Spas won multiple awards. Among them, Aegeo Spas at Electra Metropolis in Mitropolis stood out as Luxury City Spa, while Aegean Spa by Aegeo Spas at Aegean Melathron Thalasso Spa Hotel in Kriopigi, Halkidiki with sauna, hammam, cryotherapy and 8 treatment rooms stood out as Luxury Countryside Spa in Europe.

A Spa journey in Greece begins with an exfoliating shower, an awaiting spa robe and slippers, and the soothing ambiance of the Relaxation Room, serving light refreshments. If there's one thing we all need in these troubled times, it's to be able to relax and take our minds off the gas, the household basket, the bills and all that gloom. And if we could relax in a little more luxury, as in the spas in Greece that stood out at the World Luxury Spa Awards, it would be even better.
