According to the data available to "Naftemporiki", from mid-December until last week, three cargoships, belonging to the Cosco group, have tied up at the major port of Greece, which brought in containers about 4,000 cars. Most of them, according to the information of "Naftemporiki", have already set foot on the territory of neighboring Italy.

 

More specifically, PPA, whose main shareholder with a percentage of 67% is the Chinese group Cosco, becomes the main transit hub for the transport of cars from China to Europe, North Africa and the Near East, in special containers.

 

This is a new car transport service jointly with Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, which takes advantage of the location of the port of Piraeus and offers an innovative way to transport vehicles with multipurpose vessels, aiming to provide high quality car logistics services in the EMEA region.

 

The strategic position of Piraeus port between three continents, the integrated services provided and above all the high quality of services of the container terminals, supporting by Cosco Shipping group, were the main factors that contributed decisively to choosing the port of Piraeus as a key transit hub in this large business project, reports the PPA to "Naftemporiki".

 

On December 21, 2022, the first shipload of cars arrived in Piraeus, which were unloaded at the container terminal to then be transferred to the car terminal to be driven to their final destinations.

 

The president of PPA S.A, Yu Zenggang, expressed in his statements to "Naftemporiki", his particular satisfaction for the start of an additional important activity within the port, stressing that once again the great value of synergy is proven, which is a necessary condition and creates the conditions for achieving remarkable results with significant economies of scale and benefits to all stakeholders.
