WASHINGTON, April 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Joe Biden said on Monday that he plans on running for reelection in 2024.
"I plan on running," Biden told Al Roker of NBC's "Today" show during an interview at the White House before the annual Easter egg roll on the South Lawn in the morning.
"But we're not prepared to announce it yet," the Democrat veteran added.
Biden, 80, has said that he intends to run for a second term but it remains unclear when he will make the official announcement.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump, a Republican, who lost to Biden in the 2020 election but has refused to concede, announced his bid in November for the White House in the 2024 presidential election.
