KIEV, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has delivered 541,700 tons of foodstuff to the countries in need under humanitarian programs, the government-run Ukrinform news agency reported Wednesday, citing official figures.
In particular, Ukraine shipped about 371,100 tons of produce under the World Food Program and some 170,000 tons under the "Grain from Ukraine" program, showed data from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Earlier this week, a vessel carrying 30,000 tons of wheat from Ukraine arrived in Yemen, one of the most needy Arab countries.
Since the Black Sea Grain Initiative took effect, Ukraine has exported 27.73 million tons of produce, including more than 5 million tons to low-income and lower-middle income countries, according to the ministry.
The Black Sea grain deal was separately signed in July 2022 by Ukraine and Russia with Türkiye and the United Nations to ensure supplies of grain and fertilizers to global markets amid the Ukraine crisis.
