GAZA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Rescue work has been carried out in the northern Gaza Strip's Jabalia refugee camp after the Israeli forces bombed houses in the camp's central al-Hoja Street area on Saturday.

The Gaza health authorities reported Saturday that at least 40 Palestinians were killed, and 224 others injured in Israeli attacks across the besieged strip within 24 hours.

What's worse, the persistent Israeli strikes are posing challenges to the continuation of humanitarian relief operations.

Also on Saturday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced the complete evacuation of its administrative headquarters in the Al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza due to Israeli bombardment.

The evacuation was due to "shrapnel falling on the building and direct shelling, which posed a danger to the staff working inside," the PRCS said in a statement.

Al-Mawasi is an open sandy area on the seashore extending from the southwest of Deir al-Balah city in the center of Gaza through western Khan Younis to the west of Rafah in southern Gaza.
