BEIRUT, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah said on Wednesday afternoon that it targeted for the first time the headquarters of the Israeli defense ministry since its current conflict with Israel.
It said in a statement that it launched an air attack with a squadron of suicide drones on the Kirya base, the headquarters of the Israeli defense ministry, in the city of Tel Aviv.
It said that the attack was carried out to support the Palestinian people in Gaza, and to defend Lebanon and its people.
The Israeli army has yet to comment on the attack.
Since Sept. 23, the Israeli army has intensified its air attack on Lebanon in an escalation of conflict with Hezbollah. Israel further initiated a ground operation across its northern border into Lebanon in early October.
According to the Lebanese health ministry, the death toll in Lebanon from Israeli airstrikes since the beginning of the conflict in October last year has reached 3,287, with injuries hitting 14,222.
