BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting on Jan. 9 to hear work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, as well as a work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech.

 

It was noted at the meeting that upholding the Party's overall leadership is our greatest political strength and that upholding the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee is the fundamental reason why we have achieved continuous victories. The central Party leadership's annual hearing of work reports from the five leading Party members' groups and the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee is an important institutional arrangement for upholding and strengthening the overall leadership of the Party and the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee. It has been proven through practice that this important institutional arrangement is essential for giving full play to the Party's core role of exercising overall leadership and coordinating the efforts of all sides, for ensuring that the Party's leadership is exercised in all aspects and stages of the Party and the country's cause, and for guaranteeing unity of purpose and action to forge synergy. Such an arrangement must be adhered to for a long time.

 

Last year, the five leading Party members' groups followed the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, resolutely upheld the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership, and earnestly implemented the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the meeting noted. Giving priority to solid work, the leading Party members' groups showed a stronger sense of mission and responsibility, faithfully fulfilled their duties, strengthened self-improvement, and assumed their principal responsibilities for full and rigorous Party self-governance. Consequently, they achieved new advancements in various fields and made fresh contributions to building China into a strong country and advancing national rejuvenation on all fronts through Chinese modernization.

 

According to the meeting, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, under the leadership of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, performed its duties diligently and proactively last year. It did a lot of work in implementing the decisions and plans of the central Party leadership, improving Party regulations, guiding the development and reform of people's organizations, and addressing unnecessary formalities to reduce burdens at the primary level.

 

It was stressed at the meeting that 2025 is the final year for implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan and also a crucial year for further deepening reform comprehensively. The five leading Party members' groups must follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and gain a deep understanding of the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and establishing the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They must maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership. They must strengthen their confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. They must uphold Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and uphold the CPC Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership. They must adhere to the highest political principle of upholding the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, have a correct understanding of what it means to perform well, make it a priority to get things done, strive for progress and overcome challenges, ensure that all decisions and plans of the central Party leadership are fully implemented, and take on new responsibilities and make new achievements on the new journey of advancing Chinese modernization on all fronts.
