BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhua) -- The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee convened a meeting on Feb. 28 to discuss a draft government work report to be submitted by the State Council to the third session of the 14th National People's Congress for deliberation. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

It was noted at the meeting that last year, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core coordinated national imperatives, navigated changes with composure, and united and led the whole Party and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in successfully accomplishing the main goals and tasks of economic and social development. As a result, the Chinese economy maintained overall stability and made steady progress. The country effectively promoted high-quality development, maintained overall social stability, and made new solid strides in advancing Chinese modernization.

At the meeting, it was stressed that this year marks the final year for implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). To do a good job in government work, it is imperative to follow the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, stay committed to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and fully implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the second and third plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee. We must act on the guidelines of the Central Economic Work Conference, adhere to the general principle of pursuing progress while maintaining stability, and fully and accurately implement the new development philosophy on all fronts. We must accelerate the creation of a new pattern of development, effectively advance high-quality development, further deepen reform comprehensively, expand high-standard opening up, build a modern industrial system, and better coordinate development and security. It is also essential to implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, expand domestic demand, promote the integrated development of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, stabilize the real estate and stock markets, prevent and defuse risks in key areas and external shocks, stabilize expectations and stimulate vitality, promote sustained economic recovery, continuously raise people's living standards, maintain social harmony and stability, and fulfill the goals and tasks in the 14th Five-Year Plan with high quality to lay a solid foundation for a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
