SANAA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Member of Yemen's Houthi Political Bureau Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti said on Wednesday that any deal reached between the United States and Iran over the nuclear program would not affect the Houthi forces' support for Gaza.
Al-Bukhaiti posted on social media platform X that the group would continue its operations against Israel until the latter stops its offensive against the Gaza Strip and allows desperately needed humanitarian aid, food, and medicine back into the Palestinian enclave, where over 2 million Palestinians are starving.
Al-Bukhaiti's message refers to the reportedly scheduled meeting on Saturday between negotiators from Washington and Tehran over the Iranian nuclear program and issues in the Middle East.
On March 15, the U.S. military resumed airstrikes on Houthi-held northern Yemen, following Houthi threats to target Israeli-linked ships unless humanitarian aid is allowed into Gaza.
The U.S. airstrikes have since been hitting northern Yemen daily, with the U.S. military claiming to have killed dozens of Houthi leaders and destroyed significant Houthi military capabilities, allegations which the Houthis denied.
