TIANJIN, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Tianjin Municipality's Lingang Comprehensive Bonded Zone has received official approval, becoming the fifth such zone in this major northern port city, according to Tianjin Customs.
Covering 5.56 square kilometers with 8.4 km of land boundary and 6.2 km of coastal frontage, the zone is strategically positioned within the core area of Tianjin Port -- one of the world's busiest.
"We've implemented classified supervision and optimized isolation fencing to suit the operational needs of local marine engineering companies," said Tian Jiachao, head of the free trade zone division under Tianjin Customs.
Comprehensive bonded zones are special commercial zones that enjoy favorable taxation policies and are managed by customs officials.
The newly approved zone is expected to strengthen supply chains in sectors such as marine engineering equipment, hydrogen energy and the broader ocean economy, customs said.
