JERUSALEM, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Changan Automobile launched a new electric SUV, the Deepal S05, in Israel on Tuesday, said Automotive Equipment, the company's official Israeli dealership.
The compact crossover features a 68.8-kWh battery, a range of up to 485 km, a top speed of 180 km/h, and fast charging from 30 to 80 percent in 15 minutes. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 or 7.5 seconds, depending on the version.
Changan's Deepal brand entered the Israeli market last December with the Deepal S07, an electric compact crossover SUV. In the first nine months of 2025, 1,564 units of the S07 were sold, according to the Israel Vehicle Importers Association.
Chinese automakers dominated Israel's electric vehicle market in the period, accounting for 81.5 percent of sales, or 40,351 units. BYD Auto led with 7,659 units across seven models.
Chinese brands also led overall car sales in Israel, selling 81,711 vehicles in the first nine months, followed by South Korean brands with 43,520 units and Japanese brands with 34,242 units.
