The president of the Hellenic Association of Space Industry (HASI/EVITIDE), Athanasios Potsis, referred to the maturation and international consolidation of the Greek space ecosystem, noting that the domestic space industry, after two decades of systematic effort under particularly demanding conditions, has managed to consolidate its position in the global market.

As he underlined, "Today Greek engineers, scientists and researchers produce innovation in the space sector, create products and services, providing technological superiority and independence to our country in a critical sector for our economy, environment and security."

Potsis noted that the space technology ecosystem is now a key component of the country's innovative and productive dynamics, as Greek companies design, produce, assemble and control satellites, while developing advanced software that utilises cutting-edge algorithms and techniques for processing satellite data, creating unique operational development capabilities.

National participation in ESA

He made special reference to the important national participation in the European Space Agency (ESA), which now amounts to 130 million euros, a development that, as he underlined, is expected to further enhance existing collaborations and open up new areas of research and business activity. At the same time, the total budget for space technology programs is now approaching 1 billion euros, which reflects the importance attributed to the use of space for the economy, development and security of the country.

In the same context, the president of si-Cluster and director of ESA BIC Greece, Jorge Sanchez, underlined that "the Greek space ecosystem is no longer in a formation phase, but in a phase of maturation and international positioning."

As he mentioned, the progress recorded, from large space projects and industrial investments to the dynamic development of startups, proves that Greece can function as a reliable producer of space technology and services. According to Sanchez, the crucial issues for the next period are strategic coordination, consistency in political choices, and the utilisation of human capital, so that technological superiority is translated into sustainable economic and geopolitical value.

He also referred to the role of ESA BIC Greece as a key mechanism for technology transfer and business maturation, pointing out that the Greek program is now among the most efficient in the European network, functioning as a bridge between research, industry and international markets.
