BRASILIA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Justice Alexandre de Moraes of Brazil's Supreme Federal Court ordered the transfer of former President Jair Bolsonaro from the Federal Police Superintendency to the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, local media said Thursday.

Inside the complex, Bolsonaro will be housed in a general staff room in the 19th Battalion of the Military Police of the Federal District, known as Papudinha.

According to the decision, the unit offers more favorable conditions to meet recent requests from the defense, such as longer visiting hours, the possibility of engaging in physical exercises during free time, and undergoing physiotherapy.

Moraes' decision guaranteed that Bolsonaro has comprehensive medical assistance 24 hours a day from previously registered private doctors, without the need for prior notice. It also authorized his immediate transfer to hospitals in case of an emergency.

In addition, permanent medical care was authorized by the prison system under a 24-hour guard, as well as weekly visits by his wife and children, religious assistance, permission to read, installation of protective bars and support bars in bed.

Bolsonaro was sentenced by the Supreme Federal Court in September last year to 27 years and three months in prison for leading an attempted coup.
