BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of 140 million people in China made purchases through cross-border e-commerce platforms in the first half (H1) of 2026, with exports via overseas warehouses surging 3.3-fold, the country's top customs official said on Wednesday.

Highlighting the robust growth of new business models and formats in the cross-border e-commerce sector, Sun Meijun, head of the General Administration of Customs, unveiled the figures at a press conference.

In 2025, China's total cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 2.84 trillion yuan (about 418.06 billion U.S. dollars), up 4.8 percent year on year, customs data showed.

Market procurement exports, meanwhile, exceeded 800 billion yuan during the same period.
