Greece participated with a national pavilion at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, a leading international exhibition for wind energy, held in Hamburg.
According to Enterprise Greece, which organised the Greek delegation comprising 10 companies, WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 attracted more than 40,000 visitors from over 100 countries, as well as more than 1,600 exhibitors from around 40 countries. Offshore wind, Europe's energy security and autonomy, and the development of resilient European supply chains for renewable energy equipment were high on the agenda. Discussions also focused on the challenges posed by the rapid integration of renewables into electricity grids, the need for faster integration of energy storage, and the importance of efficient permitting procedures, with an emphasis on innovation, digitalisation and artificial intelligence applications.
Broad range of products and technologies presented by Greek companies
The Greek companies participating in WindEnergy Hamburg showcased a broad range of products, technologies and services for the sector, spanning metal structures, cables and electrical equipment to substations and medium-voltage systems, installation and maintenance services for wind turbines and subsea projects, as well as digital solutions using artificial intelligence, computer vision and sensors.
"Their presence enhanced the international visibility of the Greek market and created opportunities for networking and partnerships in the rapidly growing wind energy sector," the statement said.
In addition, Enterprise Greece's meetings with international companies focused on investment opportunities arising from Greece's green transition, particularly offshore wind farms, the strengthening of electricity grids and energy storage infrastructure.
"Investor interest confirms the momentum of Greece's energy sector and the country's growing role as a regional energy hub in Southeast Europe and the Mediterranean," the statement said.
Commenting on Greece's presence at the exhibition, Enterprise Greece CEO Dr Marinos Giannopoulos said: "Greece's first national participation in WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, one of the sector's most important events, confirms the strategic importance we attach to promoting the country as an attractive destination for investment in the green transition. The strong presence of Greek companies and the strong international investment interest in renewable energy projects highlight the potential of Greece's energy ecosystem. With the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, wind energy is a key pillar of the energy transition, while offshore wind is playing an increasingly important role in the country's energy mix. Enterprise Greece will continue to support the international promotion of Greek companies and attract investments that strengthen Greece's position on the European and regional energy map."
