SANAA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi group said Saturday that it had launched seven missile and drone attacks on airports, oil facilities and a military base across Saudi Arabia, as heavy Saudi-led airstrikes hit various Houthi-held areas of Yemen.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement broadcast by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV that the group had used ballistic missiles and drones in the attacks targeting airports, oil facilities and a military base in the Saudi cities of Riyadh, Yanbu, Rabigh, Dammam, Najran and Khamis Mushait.

Sarea said King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was targeted in two stages. Other attacks struck targets including Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.

There was no immediate Saudi confirmation of the claimed strikes.

Sarea said the attacks were launched after what he described as 100 Saudi airstrikes on Houthi-held areas of Yemen over the previous 24 hours. He claimed Saudi Arabia had carried out a total of 3,123 air and missile strikes on Yemen since the latest escalation began.

Meanwhile, al-Masirah TV reported on Saturday casualties from heavy Saudi-led airstrikes across Houthi-held areas. It said four people were killed and several others wounded when a house was hit in the Asr neighborhood of the capital Sanaa, citing a preliminary toll.

In the western province of Hodeidah, five members of one family were killed when an airstrike hit their home in the At Tuhayta district, while another child was wounded, according to al-Masirah.

The broadcaster also reported that eight people were killed and more than 10 others wounded in airstrikes on housing for cement factory workers in Hamdan district of Sanaa province.

Separately, Sarea said in a statement posted on social media platform X that Houthi forces had targeted what he called Saudi-backed "mobilizations" at Al-Nasr camp and a naval military base in the southern port city of Aden, where Yemen's internationally recognized government is based.

The strikes came amid an intensifying confrontation between the Houthis and Yemeni government forces backed by the Saudi-led coalition, with missile, drone and air attacks escalating across several parts of the country in recent days.

Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and much of the country's north. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
