The 67th Cannes Festival's Cinefondation and Short Films Jury will be presided by Iranian director and screenwriter Abbas Kiarostami, the Cannes Festival announced Thursday.
Other members of the Jury include French director and actress Noemie Lvovsky, Brazilian director and visual artist Daniela Thomas, Chadian director Mahamat-Saleh Haroun and young Norwegian director Joachim Trier.
"They will be tasked with awarding three prizes to films submitted by students from film schools the world over, which will be presented in the Cinefondation Selection, to be announced at a later date," said the organizers of the 67th Cannes film Festival in a statement.
The Cinefondation Prizes will be announced on May 22, at a ceremony to be followed by a screening of the winning films, while the Short Film Palme d'Or will be awarded by the jury at the prize-giving ceremony on May 24.
The Palme d'Or winning filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami is "one of the greatest directors of contemporary cinema," said the organizers.
After rising to international fame with "Where Is the Friend's Home?" in 1987, he has presented a number of his films at the Cannes Festival, including five in Competition: "Through the Olive Trees" (1994), "Taste of Cherry" (Palme d'Or 1997), "Ten" (2002), "Certified Copy" (2010) and "Like Someone in Love" (2012).
The 67th Cannes Festival will take place from May 14 to 25, with New Zealand director, producer and scriptwriter Jane Campion as president of the Jury.
