October sees power consumption rise

China's power consumption in October rose by 6.1 percent from September to 399.8 billion kilowatt-hours, the National Energy Administration said on Nov 14.

The first 10 months of this year saw China's power consumption increase by 4.9 percent from a year earlier to 4.09 trillion kwh.

Power consumption in the first sector, or agriculture, reached 86.7 billion kwh from January to October, down 0.7 percent, while the second sector D manufacturing D expanded power consumption by 3.2 percent year-on-year to 3.00 trillion kwh. Power consumption in the third sector, the service industry, surged by 11.2 percent to 473.1 billion kwh.

In addition, power consumption of urban and rural residents grew by 10.9 percent in the same period to 525.4 billion kwh.
