About 18 percent of respondents in a nationwide survey said they intend to buy residential property in the next two years, while 7 percent intend to apply for a government-subsidized home.
About 6 percent said they are willing to rent.
The survey was conducted among 5,000 people in 23 provinces and four municipalities, between May 12 and June 3, by the Guangzhou Public Opinion Research Center.
Respondents aged between 19 and 30 showed a strong desire for housing of various types and for buying property.
Respondents in the lowest-income bracket showed strong preference for buying affordable property in the non-subsidized market.
About 75 percent of those who intend to buy non-subsidized property said that they can't afford the hefty prices, while 56 percent of those who intend to buy non-subsidized property do not consider this year the right time to make a move. |
