Last Updated(Beijing Time):2011-12-31 17:41

Guilin, a city widely known for its breathtaking landscapes, is estimated to have received 30 million tourists this year, local tourism authorities said Saturday.

The sub-tropical city in south Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has already hosted 27 million tourists, including 1.5 million foreign travelers, over the first 11 months of the year, up 29.7 percent compared with the same period last year, said Chen Yunchun, deputy director of the city's tourism bureau.

Chen believes that Guilin's unique natural landscapes - hills, waterways, lakes and caves, combined with the city's folk culture and improved tourist services, attributed to the rapid growth.

Tourism revenue in the first 11 months stood at 19.7 billion yuan (3.13 billion U.S. dollars), up 30.5 percent year-on-year.
