China's week-long Spring Festival holiday, which ended on Saturday, brought a new round of travel boom across the country.

Self-driving tours become increasingly popular among travellers. In the city of Tianjin, the ratio of people choosing to drive by themselves surged 35 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, outbound trips continued to increase sharply. According to tourism authorities of the Republic of Korea (ROK), a total of 45,000 Chinese people travelled to the country during the holiday, which represents an increase of over 30 percent from the same period last year.

From Jan. 25 to 28, 64, 344 people departed from Shanghai to other countries, up 11.59 percent from the same period last year.

Shopping tours, especially duty-free shopping and cross-boarder shopping, became another bright spot.

An average of 10,000 people visited the duty-free shop in Sanya per day during the Spring Festival holiday, according to the tourism office.

The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, which fell on Jan. 23 this year, is traditionally a time for family reunions in the nation.
