| Macao hotel occupancy rate reaches 78.6% in May |

The average occupancy rate of Macao' s hotels reached 78.6 percent in May, with four-star hotels leading at 81.3 percent, according to figures released by the city's Statistics and Census Service(DSEC) Friday.
A total of 754,375 guests checked into local hotels and guesthouses in May, up by 9.4 percent year on year. The average length of guests' stay for the period decreased by 0.11 night to 1.4 nights, the figures indicated.
At the end of May, the total number of available guest rooms of the hotel sector increased by 12.1 percent year on year to 24,117 rooms, according to the DSEC.
In the first five months of this year, visitor-guests of the hotels and guest-houses accounted for 64.6 percent of the total number of tourists, higher than 61.3 percent in the same period of 2011, the DSEC said. |
