An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted the Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Kizilsu in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 5:52 p.m. Wednesday Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The quake occurred at the bordering areas of the autonomous prefecture's Oqar County and Atux city, the report said.
The epicenter, with a depth of about 5 km, was at 39.7 degrees north latitude and 75.5 degrees east longitude.
