HK's Central Policy Unit head appointed

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Friday appointed Shiu Sin-por as the Head of the Central Policy Unit until 2017.

Shiu has been a full-time member of the Central Policy Unit since 2007 and is an experienced public policy researcher. He was Executive Director of the One Country Two Systems Research Institute, and pursued advanced studies at Harvard and Tsinghua Universities.

His major research areas include the history of Hong Kong's reunification, the development of politics and the political system in Hong Kong, and the economic and social relationship between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Hong Kong Chief Executive CY Leung said Shiu has been engaged in public policy research for years and accumulated rich experience during his employment with the Central Policy Unit. He said he is confident he will excel in leading the unit in his new position.
