A conference aiming to boost people-to-people communication between China and Southeast Asian countries opened in south China's Nanning city on Monday.

The China-Southeast Asia High-level People-to-People Dialogue will also look to boost cooperation among the people of China and Southeast Asian countries.

In his keynote speech during the opening ceremony, Liu Qibao, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that solidarity, mutual trust and tolerance for each other are extremely important in boosting relations between China and Southeast Asian countries.

Liu said that durable peace and common prosperity are the shared dream and aspiration of the people of China and Southeast Asian countries, and that Chinese people are willing to work with Southeast Asian people to realize this shared dream.

Organized by the China NGO Network for International Exchange, a national non-profit social organization, the two-day event is being attended by delegates from 11 Southeast Asian countries, who will exchange ideas on the theme of "Peace for Development and Cooperation for Win-win."
