Mali's coup leaders have decided to reopen the land border in Mali beginning from Wednesday and lift the curfew over the nation's entire territory, according to the National Committee for Redressment of Democracy and Restoration of the State (CNRDR).

The airspace of Mali was officially reopened on Monday and civil transport and the first flight began on Tuesday.

On March 22, the CNRDR had decided to close all the borders and airspace of the West African country after the coup against President Amadou Toumani Toure.

Meanwhile, the heads of state and government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Tuesday decided in Abidjan to send a delegation of "high level" to Mali in "48 hours" for return to constitutional order in the country.

"The Conference of Heads of State and Government decided to send to Mali in 48 hours a high-level delegation for the return to constitutional order in the country ," said a final communique of the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The delegation will be led by the chairman of the ECOWAS, the Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara, and will consist of his peers Liberia, Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin and Nigeria.

The heads of state and government in West Africa in Abidjan also on Tuesday called for a cease-fire in northern Mali in the grip of a armed rebellion.

"The Conference of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS call for a cease-fire and dialogue with respect for territorial integrity of Mali, " said the final communique of the meeting on the situation in Mali.

Since January, Mali faces the awakening of the rebellion Tuareg in the north.

The ECOWAS leaders have "condemned" rebellion and stated their commitment to "support" the efforts of Malian government to preserve the territorial integrity of the country.

They named the president of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore, Malian mediator in the crisis and decided to send a mission of "high level" in the country.

"The mission will take all measures to end rebellion and preserve the territorial integrity of Mali, including by the use of force," the statement said.
