Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-07-02 07:52

Egypt's newly-elected president Mohamed Morsi ordered Sunday to form immediately a commission to consider the cases of prisoners and detainees who were arrested in all events after last year's unrest, the official news agency MENA reported on Sunday.

The commission is composed of members of military justice and interior ministry, and also the general prosecutor, MENA reported, quoting Morsi as saying "this commission should be formed as soon as possible, to release all who were proved not involved in any criminal cases."

Morsi on Saturday took his oath before the General Assembly of the Supreme Constitutional Court as the new president after the ouster of former leader Hosni Mubarak a year ago.

The military council which had ruled Egypt since the fall of Mubarak held a ceremony Saturday afternoon in Hikestep military base in eastern Cairo, to officially hand power to Morsi.
